Daily reading and prayer

Thursday 28 – Isaiah 40:8  the grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.

Heavenly Father we thank you for the beautiful nature that surrounds us daily. We see the trees lose their leaves in the autumn and through the long days of winter but they burst forth again in the spring of the year.  They bring new life for the birds and creatures that live in and around them. Lord you bring new life into our lives daily and we thank you for this. We know you are here through all the seasons till the end of time.

Amen

Wednesday 27 – Proverbs 29:18 where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.

Lord we need to be strong and stay within the law of this lockdown. Give us strength and the ability to do this. Encouraging each other in prayer, and by reading your written word daily. Till we are all able to see each other face to face once again.

Amen.

Tuesday 26 – Proverbs 11:14  Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counsellors there is safety.

Lord please be with all those in authority, help them to make the correct decisions for the benefit of all. Allowing us to do our best, in the current situation we find ourselves in without malice to others.

Monday 25 – Hebrews 13:17  obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.

Lord as we are still in a state of lockdown; Let us be reminded that it’s for our own good. This virus has had an effect on all of us, be it with symptoms or confinement. We thank you Lord that there are people out there who are able to help us by telling us what to do let us do this without complaint or harm to anyone. This we pray.

Amen.

Daily Reading and Prayer

Sunday 24 – Psalm 9:9-10  The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.

God our Father, when times are difficult, we ask for courage and determination. When there is hostility between people, lead us to see the best in people and in situations, and give me the gift of making peace. Remove from us whatever contradicts your love that we may share more fully the Good News of your love.

Amen

Saturday 23 – 2 Timothy 1:7  For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

O God our father, direct and control us in every part of our life: our tongues, our actions, our minds and our hearts. If we fail in these Lord make us retreat our steps and correct them so we may live our lives in obedience following the commandments. Pleasing you through Christ our Lord.

Amen
